Bulgaria
has extremely liberal laws regarding foreign
investment in real estate. Non-Bulgarians are
free to buy property in the Country. To buy
the land as well as the property, you need to
be either a Bulgarian citizen or Bulgarian legal
entity, however this is easily and legitimately
overcome by setting up a Bulgarian company (all
of which Just4Bulgaria can do for you).
How easy is it to travel
to Bulgaria?
Very
easy. Low cost flights to the region are increasing
all the time. The coastal regions near the Black
Sea are easily reached via the airports at Varna
and near Bourgas. Ski resorts on the western
side of the Country are easily reached via the
airport in the capital city of Sofia.
How
expensive is the cost of living?
The
cost of living is very low in Bulgaria. Food
is typically one third of the price of that
in the UK – and is of a very high quality
with most food being fresh and organic. Property
prices are also very reasonable compared to
other areas in Europe; offering high capital
growth.
How much does property cost
in Bulgaria?
Prices
have risen considerably over the past few years
and so a price indication can quickly go out
of date. To give a very general idea however,
it depends largely upon the location of the
property in question. Properties located along
the Black Sea resorts are generally much more
expensive than outlying, quiet villages. Clearly,
places with few amenities are likely to be considerably
cheaper than those in the more developed resorts.

Is Bulgaria largely English-speaking?
As
a growing holiday destination, young people
in major towns and coastal regions tend to speak
English. However, this is not the case in outlying
villages at present.
What is the climate like
throughout the year?
Like
the UK, Bulgaria has four seasons but the climate
is generally more extreme: summers are generally
very hot (similar to the summers found in nearby
Turkey) and winters can be very cold, making
it a great location for sun-lovers and skiers
alike.
Is it possible to ‘hold
onto’ a property?
No. The Bulgarian property
market – particularly in the popular resorts
– has become very fast-paced meaning that
it simply not realistic to ‘hold’
a property. It is however, sometimes possible
with a new build.
